About Me
Hi! I’m Lindsay, a 20-something transplant to the West Coast. My “home” is actually in the “frozen tundra” of Minnesota and when I went to college at Notre Dame, the weather didn’t get much better. So I made my way to California, where I live in San Francisco and only occasionally miss being able to make snow angels. But I love it here – especially being able to go wine tasting in Napa in January – and I’m enjoying life in a wonderfully yuppie neighborhood known as the “Marina.”
I believe that fresh flowers make a home. I’m inherently happier when I’m in the presence of good food… even if that just means there’s some almond butter in the pantry, and a bag of spinach in the fridge. I have a love-hate relationship with exercise, but I’m currently doing a lot of yoga. I dislike “going out” unless it involves breaking bread together. I would go crazy if I didn’t occasionally go on arts & craft binges. Creativity is a safe refuge.
In early 2009, I started a blog to share observations from the working world. I was an analyst at a public biotech company then, and I often played “fly on the wall” at investment conferences and management meetings. I saw a lot, heard a lot, and learned a lot. And when aforementioned public biotech company was purchased for pocket change, I decided to journey to Japan. After Japan I went to Taiwan. And then to Russia, Norway, Poland, and Turkey. In the past year, I’ve lived, loved, lost, and been amazed at the ways in which my faith has grown. I don’t know for certain the direction that God has in mind for me, but I trust in His very mighty plans.
Thank goodness for my blog (and the 5 people who read it everyday)… without it, I might not be compelled to explore the world, attempt to cook gourmet, or reminisce about how wonderful it was to be a college student. Well, I guess there’s always business school! Better go study for the GMAT
!
Thanks for reading!

What a beautiful city to live in. Just visited it this past summer. Great city to find your dreams…and quench your taste buds.
Hey Lindsay!
If figured it’d be fitting to drop in since you of all people seem to embrace living life, learning new things, and sharing those experiences. Be sure to check out http://www.CraftyTrade.com, (kind of a ‘learning’ barter forum. Here you can exchange of skills, hobbies, and time (& some stuff). You can find others in your area who are willing to teach, eager to learn, or simply seeking out others to engage in various activities of shared interest.
The site is nicely organized into 4 different category searches for the specified type of interactions each user is seeking. You can decide to just learn or just teach. You can find those who would like to exchange lessons with what you are savvy/knowledgable in with something that you aren’t yet they otherwise are. You can link up with service professionals (like electricians, carpenters, etc.) and assist them for the day / project and in return get priceless exposure & training for your DIY projects at home (they benefit from the free help). Finally, there is a section called “SOCIALS” where you can find others in your area who have shared interests and would like to link up with others to ‘do’ what it is they mutually enjoy (i.e. hiking, knitting, playing poker, etc.). And actually, there’s a bartering section within this category for a number of things.
Again, it’s a new site, but I think once people like us create a presence and get some postings on there, it could really take off and be a huge asset to us all who love to learn new things and engage in many different activities without the silly cost of paying to do so! I mean for goodness sakes, we all know something!
Hope to find others with the same interests as me!
Hey Lindsay!
It was great meeting you at the Foodbuzz Festival! Your blog is beautiful – I especially love the creative layouts for all your photos.
Looking forward to your future posts!
Jen
I don’t usually comment, but I find that we have many things in common! Saw your blog from Jenna’s blog. I work for a biotech company as well, and wish I could give it all up to travel. Unfortunately I haven’t found the courage to do so yet. Neat blog! Keep writing!
Cheers,
Tasha
isn’t that the greatest thing ever about blogs? you find yourself relating to other people in unique ways!
sometimes you don’t have to “find courage” to take leaps. in my experience, sometimes you have no choice. in either case, you learn so much about yourself.
thanks for stopping by!
